American inspirations

Saturday mornings are always lazy, lay in bed Pinteresting for hours, kind of mornings. A few weeks ago I was pinning my heart out and happened upon a gingham crochet blanket. I loved the way it looked so I used the same principle and made this red, white and blue checkered afghan (ya, I still call crocheted blankets afghans. I’m old.. what can I say?)

I actually don’t know what type of yarn I used since..well.. I am a self professed yarnaholic. I mean..seriously. There are bins upon bins of scrap yarn with no labels stacked in a spare room in my basement. I pulled out a large white skein and wondered what would go with this to make an awesome lap blanket? Originally I pulled a teal green and bright pink but I wasn’t feeling the bubble gum vibe. So I kept looking and the red and blue just “spoke” to me. I pulled out my favorite yellow “I” hook and started to chain.

All in all this took about 15 hours to complete while I binge watched “Call the Midwife” *sidenote..great series if you’re looking for clean tv*. It was snowing here in Colorado and this lil gem of a blanket kept me warm while I stitched it out.

I hope you love it as much as I.

Let me know what you think!
